Summer is almost upon us, and with it - our very first studio album. Yesterday, The Lost Ark Studio released our song “FREE” for your listening pleasure! It’ll be featured on their upcoming compilation (as well as our record). It sounds better than we could’ve ever hoped. It’s one of our older songs, but we re-recorded it properly in the studio and it really took on a whole new life of it’s own! Check it out, and download it for free if you want it. Oh, and don’t forget to tell everyone you know about us!

Hey friends - we’ve been scarce lately and for good reason. In January, we were approached to record our album at Lost Ark Studio here in San Diego - we couldn’t have been more thrilled as the place is super legit and we’d have the chance to work with the best producer/mixer in town: Mike Butler (look up his work with Low Volts, Blackout Party, Stephen Rey and The Slicks, and Nena Anderson).

So, early February - we rehearsed for about two weeks, going through our songs and re-imagining how we could play them. We got some pretty sweet results that I think you guys will dig. So, we started recording on 2/18 and we should be calling it a wrap over the next couple days! Some big things are in the work and we’re all putting as much energy and effort into this thing as we possibly can! Good stuff is on the way, folks….stay tuned.

Well folks, it’s been a fantastic year. And we’ve already got sweet news for 2012. We’re joining one of our favorite SD bands, The Howls, for their Record Release Party at the Casbah on 1/27! You can buy tickets at casbahmusic.com if you want, as it’s sure to sell out.

Many thanks to everyone that came to a show, liked us on FB and/or shared our music with their moms. We sold out of our Live CD’s and we’re taking it offline on 12/31, so download it soon (CLICK HERE) for free if you want it. Merry Christmas, y’all. Be safe. Peace!

Howdy y’all - just wanted to let you guys know that we’ll be playing two fantastic shows around town next weekend. First up is taking place at the infamous Ken Club in Kensington, on Saturday (11/19) with our good friends Dead Feather Moon and Holy Rolling Empire! Both of these bands are simply fantastic and we can’t wait to open up the night for them. The very next night, we finally get to return to one of our favorite places on the planet - The Casbah. We’re playing second on the bill, with Noel Jordan opening and David Dondero headlining! Dondero was featured on NPR recently and has been getting stellar reviews for his new album. We’re very excited about both shows and hope to see some your smiling, lovely faces there!

In other news, we’re still hard at work on our full-length record. We’re mixing it at the moment and trying to dial in the right sounds. We’ve got a couple more songs to record, but that’ll all come in good time. So far though, it’s sounding excellent! Can’t wait to share it with you guys…

Hey folks - we’ll be playing The Saloon tonight in downtown Encinitas! We go on around 9pm and it’s a free show as always so come out and have a beer with us! If you have an excuse to miss tonight’s gig, you can make it up to us by coming down to 98 Bottles in Little Italy for our show this Friday night! It’s a sweet craft beer/restaurant space that just opened up and word on the street is that it’s pretty classy. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, check out our ‘Shows’ page for our new tour dates! Late October/November has us performing our music at Bar Eleven, The Griffin, The Ken Club and the Casbah!

We’re having our next big Tiger party at The Saloon in Encinitas on October 19th! If you’ve never been there, this place RULES. It takes the great parts of what a bar should be and really ups the ante. I’ve seen The Howls and Blackout Party there and both were excellent. It’s free, as it always is, and we’ll get it all started around 9pm so it won’t be too late on a weeknight. Come have a drink with us, eh? ~ Dustin

We’ve got some new shows to announce that are comin’ up in October! If you fancy gettin’ out of the house for awhile and catching some live music, we’d love to see your beautiful faces around town. First up, let me say that the Belly Up show we played with Nena Anderson and Dead Feather Moon was outstanding on so many levels. We seriously had the best time and word on the street was that we sounded better than we ever have before. Of course, that could be due to the sound technicians at the Belly Up being quite the professionals. But…..we’ll take the credit (if you insist). We loved every second of it and hope to go back soon. Hey - if you’re lookin’ for something to do after church this Sunday, we’ll be playing the 2011 Adams Avenue Street Fair at 11:45am at the Rock Stage. See you there: bright n’ early! Next up:

October 19th - we’ll finally get to set up camp at The Saloon in Encinitas. I’ve seen Blackout Party and The Howls there and it’s a great joint. Can’t wait for this one.

October 21st - we’re christening a new pub/restaurant in town called 98 Bottles! The place is fantastic and is sure to be a great show!

October 28th - this one’s special to us because it’s a Benefit Show for Breast Cancer Awareness/Research. It’s going down at Eleven on El Cajon Blvd in North Park. We’d love to see you out and about for this one: support a good cause!

Anyway, that’s it for now. Of course, you can always find us at our favorite watering hole, The Riviera Supper Club in La Mesa, every other Thursday night. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be there on Sept 29th, October 13th, October 27th, and November 10th! See y’all there…

We have the sublime pleasure of opening the Nena Anderson Record Release Show at the Belly Up in Solana Beach on Wednesday, September 14th! Nena’s new album, Beyond the Lights, is fantastic and we’ve been a fan of hers for quite some time. It’s our “recommended listening” for the month: get it HERE. Also on the bill are Dead Feather Moon - another great band that we’re excited to see (and hopefully hang with). Besides the Casbah, there isn’t really a better venue for independent music in San Diego and we’ve ALWAYS wanted to play the Belly Up. So, this is a small achievement for us. The doors are at 7pm, and we take the stage at 8pm. See you there?

We went into Signature Sound Studios today for our first recording session. The place (and people we worked with) is simply top notch. And whaddaya know - we tracked 10 songs, people. We do vocals and some percussion tracks tomorrow. Album is en route!

SIGNATURE SOUND STUDIOS

So, through an incredible twist of fate, some good luck - and a very gracious offer from one Kevin Mankins - we are officially taking our little DIY band into San Diego’s own Signature Sound Studios. Click here to see what they’re all about. It’s been nearly two years to the date, after our first rehearsal together and even though the time has just absolutely blazed by - it’s odd to realize that we’ve been doing this for that long without a properly recorded album.

Anyway, for nearly all of next weekend (right on the heels of our Friday night set at Bar Pink for the 2011 San Diego Music Thing), we’ll be bunkered down at their facility doing our best to create somethin’ wonderful for your earholes. Don’t bother calling or writing - we’ll be off the grid. If you look at their site, you can see what kind of place we’ll be working in and those who have used it before us: Ike Turner, U2, Blink 182, Switchfoot…..it’s the real deal. It’s times like these when I think, “Heck, maybe this whole music thing CAN work out afterall!” We’ll see, folks…..we’ll see.

So, as it turns out, we’ve been extremely lucky the last couple of weeks. We’re playing some places and events that we normally don’t get to play and frankly – we’re pretty damn excited about it!

First, we’ve got the NBC & SoundDiego LIVE showcase at Soda Bar tonight with New Mexico. We’d like to thank Rosey Bystrak (of www.sddialedin.com) and Eric Page for getting us in on that. Should be very fun! NBC played a clip of “I Got It Figured Out” during the morning news yesterday and that was pretty surreal. We also got played on Sophie Radio 103.7FM and have been told we’re going to be played on 94.9FM this Sunday night around 8pm. You can stream it here: www.fm949sd.com. Much love to both of those stations (Mookie and Tim) for playing our tunes. It’s a trip for us to hear ourselves over the radio waves.

We’ve also got some more exciting things coming up: this year marks the first time we’ll get to participate in the San Diego Music Thing! We’re playing at Bar Pink on 9/9 alongside local favorites Midnight Rivals, Grand Tarantula and the phenomenal Amy Lavere (who was on Conan and NPR recently - check out her website here: www.amylavere.com). It should be rad.

On 9/14 – we are completely honored to be playing the Belly Up for Nena Anderson’s Record Release Party along with Dead Feather Moon. I’d be going to this show even if we weren’t playing. Both of those artists are very much worth the price of admission alone! We’ve wanted to play the Belly Up since….well, forever. So it’s a big deal to us. Many thanks to Nena for asking us to play (if you can’t make the show – be sure to download her new album on her bandcamp site HERE, or off Amazon HERE).

As if that wasn’t enough, we got selected to play the 2011 Adams Avenue Street Fair on 9/25. This thing is always off the hook, with a lot of great bands playing, so that should be fun as well. Anyway – stay tuned! Hopefully this momentum we’ve got at the moment keeps up and bigger and better things are to follow!

September 9th, we’ll be playing the 2011 San Diego Music Thing! We’re joining Midnight Rivals, Grand Tarantula and Amy Lavere at the NBC Showcase at Bar Pink. We play around 8:30pm - get your tickets to this Thing now cuz pretty much every SD band you’ll ever want to see is gonna be performing at venues all around town over two nights! We’re really looking forward to puttin’ our stamp on it, since last year we got turned down - our sweet revenge in The Year of the Tiger…

Sadly, our 4x4 mini-tour is over, but it was incredible. Our pyrotechnics only caught Matt on fire once, and the new laser show was straight-up Planetarium-quality awesomeness. Seriously though, we’d like to thank all of our friends that came out to the gigs, and also - to all of the new folks that we had the pleasure of shaking hands with for the first time. We put a lot of our time and energy into the Tiger, and it’s always rewarding to know that there are people out there that appreciate our work. Just remember to keep spreadin’ the good word - it’s the only way we get to play more shows in new places…

Looking forward: we’ve just booked another show on 7/30 with Yovee at Bar Leucadian in Encinitas. At the Leucadian, it’s guaranteed to be a packed, sweaty, drunken mess of musical greatness. Those are always the best shows! Oh, and if you don’t have a copy of our Live CD, get one while you still can (there’s only a couple left) - once they’re gone, they might just be gone forever!
