BIOGRAPHY
Piecing together bits of vintage soul, old-school r&b and 50’s/60’s pop, Old Tiger began playing together regularly in mid-2009. By October, guitarist/vocalist Dustin Lothspeich, bassist Matt Phillips, and drummer Eric Boone, began recording a dozen original songs inside an old San Diego house with little more than a crummy laptop, a couple of budget microphones and a 12-pack of whatever beer was on sale at the local liquor store. The goal of the recordings was to channel their collective musical influences into their own original material. After 4 months of recording and mixing - the guys emerged with a solid collection of songs that were ready to be played live.
Their first show unexpectedly propelled them into a 30 minute set on These Days (which you can still listen to here), the morning show for San Diego’s NPR radio station, KPBS. More and more shows followed at nearly every music venue in San Diego, including the Casbah, Soda Bar and Tin Can Alehouse. They relentlessly toured Southern California after releasing an iTunes -exclusive EP titled The Definitive Collection and a live album appropriately titled: LIVE (available for free through their Bandcamp site). Always plotting ahead, the group will be entering the studio in late-2011 to record their debut full-length. In other words: stay tuned.
